  • How I Accidentally Missed Freshers’ Week and more events…

The comic strips below is a summary of why I didn’t show much progress on my assignment on due time. (Based on a true story btw)

Anyways, here’s how I managed to mess up my university life before it even properly started.

Freshers’ Week. The one week with all the events. The week where everyone makes friends, goes to parties, collects freebies, and sets the tone for the whole year. I had one job i.e. just show up.

But me? I thought it was next week. Like, NEXT. WEEK.

So what did I do this entire week you ask?
Well, I hopped on a bus to Oxford to see my friend, thinking, “Yeah, I have nothing for this week and I’m feeling a bit off. Chill trip, bit of love, bit of pizza, no problem.”

And honestly? It was great. We laughed, ate pizza, walked around… I was having a blast. Until I saw a notification “Freshers’ Week – Best Events of the Year!”

    My brain: …wait a minute.
    My heart: …ain’t no way.
    Me: WHAT THE BLEEP?!

I had messed up the dates. Freshers’ Week was happening right then. Everyone else was out there making memories, and I was in Oxford eating pizza like a fool with another fool.

And if that wasn’t enough chaos — guess what else I missed? The part-time job fair. Yep. The one event that could’ve actually helped me earn some money. The one event I promised myself I wouldn’t and shouldn’t miss. Gone. Over, Poof. Because I apparently can’t read a calendar.

So there I was, stuck in Oxford with my prepaid bus ticket, watching Instagram stories of Freshers’ week while my friend was like: “It’s fine, here have another slice.”

And I did. But inside, I was screaming.

So yeah, my first week at uni? Completely sabotaged by my own stupidity, a bus ticket, and a pizza box.

On the bright side… at least I know I’ll never, ever mess up dates again. (Probably. Hopefully. Maybe.)
